The Women’s Tour – A Clacton Marianne Vos si prende Tappa e Maglia. Bronzini a podio, Cecchini 5°

Dopo la seconda piazza nella prima frazione e il terzo posto di ieri, Marianne Vos può far festa nella terza tappa del “The Women’s Tour” (2.1), corsa oggi sulle strade che collegano Felixstowe a Clacton on Sea per un totale di 90,5 chilometri. La portacolori del Rabo Liv Women Cycling Team, al terzo centro stagionale dopo le due tappe vinte al “Festival Luxembourgeois du Cyclisme Féminin Elsy Jacobs”, ha battuto in volata la dominatrice della prova di Coppa del Mondo di Cittiglio (VA) Emma Johansson (Orica – AIS) e la due volte campionessa del mondo su strada Giorgia Bronzini (Wiggle – Honda). Per i colori azzurri da segnalare anche l’ottima quinta piazza colta dalla friulana di San Marco di Mereto di Tomba Elena Cecchini (Estado de Mexico – Faren – Kuota), giunta alle spalle della leader di Coppa del Mondo Elizabeth Armitstead (Boels – Dolmans Cycling Team). Grazie ai secondi d’abbuono conquistati nei due sprint intermedi e al traguardo, l’olandese volante balza anche al comando della classifica generale della corsa a tappe britannica, strappando le insegne del primato dalle spalle della bergamasca Rossella Ratto (Estado de Mexico – Faren – Kuota). Ora la Vos conduce con 8 secondi di vantaggio sulla Johansson, 9 secondi sulla Ratto e 14 sulla campionessa europea Susanna Zorzi (Astana – BePink Women Team). La tappa, corsa a forte velocità, è stata caratterizzata da vari tentativi di allungo ben controllati dal gruppo inseguitore. Nei chilometri finali ci hanno provato anche Johansson e Armitstead, un terzetto formato da Annemiek Van Vleuten (del Rabo Liv Women Cycling Team), Linda Melanie Villumsen Serup (Wiggle – Honda) e Trixi Worrack (Specialized – Lululemon) e in ultima battuta l’australiana Tiffany Cromwell (Specialized – Lululemon). La Vos guida anche la graduatoria a punti, la padrona di casa Sharon Laws (UnitedHealthcare Professional Cycling Team) è prima nella graduatoria dei G.P.M., mentre Rossella Ratto è ancora la miglior giovane. Domani penultima tappa.
