Team Giant – Shimano: the women’s team will be looking for a good result on Thursday at Drentse 8
The one-day race covers 136.7km and is the first of three Dutch races and will be a good opportunity for the women to show themselves again. Team Giant-Shimano coach, Ruud Verhagen said: “We’re looking forward to our first races of the season in Holland and this will be a good race to get up to speed before the first World Cup race of the season. “The team are really motivated for the first World Cup after our successful start to the season; everyone loves the new Giant Envie Advanced Liv bikes, the team spirit is really strong and they are keen to put last weekend’s unlucky racing behind them.”

RACE PREVIEW: Boels Rental Ronde van Drenthe (CDM)
The first World Cup race of the women’s season falls this Saturday with the Ronde van Drenthe. The race is the second of three races in four days in Holland and keeping fresh from one race to the next will be an important factor. Amy Pieters (NED), Sara Mustonen (SWE) and Julia Soek (NED) are the only three riders doing both these races, with Kirsten Wild (NED) one of those coming in for this important World Cup race. This race forms part of the nine race World Cup series which ends on 30th August with the GP Plouay.

RACE PREVIEW: Novilon EDR Cup (1.2)
The Team Giant-Shimano Women’s Team then continue racing on Sunday with the Novilon EDR Cup, their third race in four days. Willeke Knol, Floortje Mackaij and Kyara Stijns come into the team with fresh legs having not raced the previous day. Last year’s edition of the race was cancelled due to snow but this year looks to be a much different situation with unseasonal sunshine blessing Europe. “Over the course of the three races this week we hope to race well, get stuck in and reach the podium in at least one of the races. “We have strong teams in each of the races, including Sunday’s Novilon Cup and can race at the front each day.”
