The Team Giant-Shimano women’s team is also in action on the cobbles in Belgium this weekend
The women’s version of the race finishes before the men’s, taking in many of the same roads and climbs. It is sure to also be heavily influenced by the weather conditions, and the women showed in Qatar how well they are riding together this season and that they can deal with the cross-winds. Coach, Ruud Verhagen (NED) said: “We are looking forward to getting the women’s European season underway this weekend. After the success in Qatar the moral and team spirit is perfect and everyone is full of confidence, but the other teams are sure to come out firing too. “We are hoping to do a strong team ride, and with Kirsten Wild (NED) in our line-up we have one of the fastest finishers in the peloton. She is well supported by a strong group and by riding as a team we can look to get a good result.”
