Cornaredo pronta ad aprire la stagione italiana del grande ciclismo femminile

Dopo un anno di pausa ritorna il Gran Premio Comune di Cornaredo riservato alle donne elite. La gara milanese, organizzata da Wes Bike Team diretta da Walter Zini con il patrocinio dell’Amministrazione Comunale di Cornaredo, si candida domenica 23 marzo ad aprire la stagione elite femminile in Italia con una gara che può vantare nel proprio albo d’oro atlete di massimo rilievo. Basti pensare alla quarta ed ultima edizione in ordine di tempo, quella del 2012, quando la nazionale olandese lasciò sul traguardo di Piazza Libertà a Cornaredo un segno pesante e prestigioso della propria presenza. Furono infatti le tulipane a monopolizzare il podio, con una lunga fuga a due sostenuta dalla fuoriclasse Marianne Vos e dalla connazionale e compagna di squadra Iris Slappendel. Al termine quest’ultima si aggiudicò la corsa precedendo proprio l’iridata Vos, mentre il gruppo venne regolato da Annemiek Van Vleuten, in una giornata da ciclismo epico per le avverse condizioni atmosferiche. “Una giornata di grande spettacolo che gli appassionati credo ricordano bene – sottolinea Walter Zini, vera anima del comitato organizzatore della classica lombarda – con una superiorità delle olandesi, a loro agio con pioggia battente e temperature basse. Marianne Vos fece l’andatura sulla fuga per quasi tutta la corsa, lasciando poi strada ed applausi alla compagna di squadra Slappendel”. Ma la storia della corsa di Cornaredo parte ancora più da lontano. Dalla tappa del Giro d’Italia del 2007 con il capolavoro tecnico finale di una maiuscola Judith Arndt, dal successo nel 2008 dell’austriaca Andrea Grauss. Passando per le vittorie più recenti della lituana Rasa Leleivyte, con un bis storico nel 2010 e nel 2011. Quest’anno il Gran Premio Comune di Cornaredo ritorna nel circus degli appuntamenti del ciclismo femminile che contano con il proposito di candidarsi a corsa di prestigio nell’avvio primaverile, con tante squadre ed altrettante atlete di spicco che hanno già assicurato la propria presenza il prossimo 23 marzo. Non solo la corazzata italo kazaka di casa, la Astana Be Pink, ma anche gli altri team di maggior blasone giungeranno in Lombardia con le velociste di vertice. “Le premesse per una sfida di primo piano si stanno realizzando proprio in queste settimane con l’adesione sempre più ampia delle squadre e delle ragazze che non vogliono mancare alla nostra corsa” ha precisato un entusiasta Walter Zini, che ha ulteriormente rimarcato “il valore del patrocinio e la collaborazione concreta che arrivano dall’Amministrazione Comunale di Cornaredo, dal Sindaco Bassani che ha altresì la delega sulle attività sportive, ed anche da parte degli uffici competenti che si stanno adoperando sotto ogni aspetto per affiancare al meglio gli sforzi di Wes Bike Team”.
